Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Stop the Pump and Disconnect Tubing

Press the stop button on the pump, then disconnect the suction and discharge tubing. Use caution, as the tubing may be under high pressure.

Step 2: Remove Pump Head Cover

Remove the four thumb screws from the pump head cover and take off the cover.

Step 3: Remove the Pump Tube

Press the start button so the roller rotates slowly and safely. Grasp the inlet pump tube fitting and pull it straight out of the pump head, allowing the pump tube to automatically walk out of the pump head. Press the stop button when finished.

Step 4: Remove the Roller Assembly

Disconnect power to the pump, then remove the roller assembly from the pump head by pulling it straight off the motor shaft.

Step 5: Inspect and Clean Roller Assembly and Pump Head

Inspect and clean the roller assembly and pump head before installing a new pump tube. If chemical has come into contact with the roller assembly, wipe it with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Clean any chemical and debris from inside the pump head and TFD sensor pans.

Step 6: Replace the Roller Assembly

With the front side of the roller assembly facing forward, slide it onto the motor shaft. The black spacer on the base of the motor shaft should remain in place. Apply power to the pump.

Step 7: Install the New Pump Tube

Press the start button to run the pump in maintenance mode. Locate the inlet fitting on the curved tube (bottom fitting for counterclockwise rotation and top fitting for clockwise rotation). Press the inlet fitting into the slot of the pump head, ensuring the U-shaped fitting sits completely into the rear of the slot with the flat side facing out.

Step 8: Use the Installation Tool

An installation tool is included with the A3 pump. Install the tool on the outlet fitting of the tube assembly. Allow the tube to walk its way into the pump head, using the installation tool for assistance. Gently pull the outlet fitting until it aligns with the outlet slot, then remove the installation tool. Ensure the fittings are securely pressed into the pump head.

Step 9: Replace the Pump Head Cover

Replace the pump head cover, and make sure the four thumb screws are fully installed. The patented maintenance mode will deactivate once the pump head cover is in place.

Step 10: Reset the Pump Tube Timer

The A3 will detect the pump head cover and prompt you to reset the pump tube timer to zero.

Step 11: Trim and Reinstall Tubing

To ensure a good seal, trim half an inch from the suction and discharge tubes. Then, reinstall the tubing.

Step 12: Resume Service

Your pump is now ready to resume service.

✅ By following these steps, you can successfully replace the pump tube in your Flex-Pro® A3 Peristaltic Pump and maintain optimal pump performance.
