Step-by-Step Guide to Replacing the Tubing and Maintenance

Step 1: Safety Precautions and Equipment Preparation

Before beginning any maintenance tasks, ensure that you are wearing safety glasses and gloves. Relieve pressure on the discharge side of the tubing.

Step 2: Remove Pump Head Cover

Using the provided 5/32" Allen wrench, remove the eight bolts holding the pump head cover. Remove the cover itself.

Step 3: Start Maintenance Mode and Remove Rollers

Unlock the spider ring and power on the pump to activate the maintenance mode. Run the pump until one of the rollers is in the nine o'clock position and stop the pump. Remove that roller and repeat this process for the remaining three rollers.

Step 4: Remove Bearing Bracket and Tube Assembly

Using a 3/8" Allen wrench, remove the two bolts from the bearing bracket. Remove the two spacers, then remove the bearing bracket itself. Remove the spacer on the shafts. Next, remove the two screws on the inlet tube adapter cover and the outlet tube adapter cover using a 5/32" Allen wrench. Finally, remove the tube assembly and the rotor body.

Step 5: Clean Pump Components

Clean the arm roller, rotor body, and interior of the pump head and motor shaft using a degreaser and rag. A scrub sponge can remove any tough buildup inside the pump head. Once clean, apply a drop of silicone oil at the end of the rollers to lubricate them and wipe away any excess oil. Verify that each roller is free spinning.

Step 6: Install New Tube

Remove the four bolts from each of the old tube adapters using a 5/32" Allen wrench. Discard the old tubing. Install the new tubing into the tube adapters using four bolts each and a 5/32" Allen wrench.

Step 7: Ensure Tight Seals and Correct O-Ring Installation

To avoid leaks, tighten the bolts to 12-inch pounds torque and ensure that the O-rings are correctly installed.

Step 8: Reassemble Pump Components

After cleaning, reinstall the rotor body onto the shaft. Install the tube adapters into the tube adapter slots. Install the two tube adapter covers using two bolts each and a 5/32" Allen wrench. Install the spacer on the shaft.

Step 9: Reinstall Bearing Bracket

Install the bearing bracket using two bolts and a 3/8" Allen wrench. Ensure a spacer is installed between the bearing bracket and the pump head.

Step 10: Install Rollers

Power on the pump to initiate maintenance mode. Run the pump until the rotor body is in the nine o'clock position. Stop the pump and install roller A. Repeat this process ensuring that rollers A are opposite each other and rollers B are opposite each other. Lock the spider ring.

Step 11: Reinstall Pump Head Cover

Install the pump head cover using the eight bolts and the 5/32" Allen wrench.

✅ It's recommended to clean the pump head and roller assembly every time there's a tube replacement. Proper maintenance will extend the tube life and reduce maintenance costs. Following these steps will ensure your pump stays in optimal working condition.

This has been a guide on how to replace the tubing for the A5/M5 peristaltic metering pump and general maintenance to keep your pump running optimally.
